Empowering Farmers for a Sustainable Livelihood in Uganda [EF4SL]

The Empowering Farmers for a Sustainable Livelihood program aims to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Uganda by providing agricultural training, improved seeds and climate-smart practices, agricultural tools, and inputs. This program also prioritises agricultural market systems development, value addition, livelihoods, and financial inclusion. The program is implemented by HHA in partnership with local farmers’ groups, the Government production department, Busitema University in addition to cooperatives, and private sector actors.

Objectives

Increase Agricultural Productivity

Increase agricultural productivity through the provision of agricultural training, improved seeds, and climate-smart practices.

Enhance Market Access

Improve market access for smallholder farmers through market systems development and value addition

Increase Livelihoods and Financial Inclusion

Increase livelihoods and financial inclusion for smallholder farmers through the provision of agricultural tools and inputs, and financial services.

Program Target 2025-2030

Smallholder Farmers

The program targets 10,000 smallholder farmers, with a focus on women and youth farmers.

Farmer Organizations and Cooperatives

Improve market access for smallholder farmers through market systems development and value addition.

Increase Livelihoods and Financial Inclusion

The program will work with 10 farmer organizations and cooperatives to strengthen their capacity and enable them to access markets.
